Description

Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China. It is in the northwest of the North China Plain and has 10 districts and 9 counties with a population of 9.7 million at the end of 1986. The gross output value in industry and agriculture in Beijing was 39.99 billion yuan. Contribution to the national income was 20.6 billion yuan (in contemporay prices) and per capita income was 2137 yuan.
