Interests: social control and deviance, legal sociology, the criminal justice system, and inequality. Biographical SketchMichelle received her B.A. in Psychology from U.C. Berkeley in 2005. While in college, Michelle interned at the Wiley Manual Courthouse in the pre-trial services department, tutored inmates at San Quentin State Prison on GED and college-level material, and worked for one year at the National Council on Crime and Delinquency (NCCD). While at NCCD, Michelle worked on an evaluation of a national parenting program for abusive parents and authored a report on the prison and parole systems for women in California. After leaving U.C. Berkeley, Michelle spent two years writing grant proposals for the Center for Court Innovation, the research and development arm of the New York State Unified Court System. She was also a math teacher for the Fortune Society, an organization that provides services for ex-offenders. Michelle is currently interested in issues related to crime and punishment, legal sociology, and inequality. | ||||||
