Chris Felton has been selected as the recipient of the Charles F. Westoff Prize in Demography for 2023 for his paper entitled, “13 Reasons Why Probably Increased Emergency Room Visits for Self-Harm among Teenage Girls.” This work was nominated by Brandon Stewart.
The paper was recently accepted at Sociological Science. Felton’s paper is a response to a paper about suicide imitation effects in the popular Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why.
His work was selected from strong submissions. The selection committee included: Alícia Adserà, Sanyu Mojola, and Filiz Garip.
